Dr. James Young, DVM
James graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1990. He began practicing in Oshawa in a very busy, small animal practice. In 1996 he became a Diplomat of the American Board of Veterinary Practice. Along with his wife Dr. Audrey Souccar, they opened the Boardwalk Animal Hospital in 1997. They have two children, Brody their grandchild, three cats, three doggies, two birds, and two geckos. In his spare time he enjoys cycling and is already planning his next endurance race.
Dr. Audrey Souccar, DVM
Audrey graduated in 1986. She began working at a referral clinic in Toronto that specialized in ophthalmology, surgery and internal medicine. She opened her first practice, the Guildwood Village Animal Clinic in Westhill, in 1988 and with her husband Dr. James Young, opened the Boardwalk Animal Hospital in 1997. She currently divides her time between the two clinics. Audrey is the proud mother of two daughters, her grandchild Brody, three dogs, three cats, two birds, two geckos, and her horse. In her spare time she enjoys horseback riding and running.
Dr. Carolyn Woodward, DVM
Carolyn joined us in August, 2001. She graduated from the University of P.E.I.’s Atlantic Veterinary College in 1997, practiced in the United States for four years before moving back to Canada and joining Guildwood Village Animal Clinic as an associate. Carolyn particularly enjoys behaviour issues, surgery and diagnostics. When she is not working, her two kids, two dogs and two cats are keeping her busy. Long walks and visits to Florida are things she loves doing.
Angela is a Registered Veterinary Technician and a '99 graduate of Seneca Collage. She has been working at the Boardwalk Animal Hospital since 1999. Her interests outside of work include aerobics, running and going for long walks with her dog Scout. Spending time with her family and caring for her finches and guinea pigs, Sneakers and Pearl, who are big parts of her life.
Diana has been working as a Veterinary Assistant at the Boardwalk Animal Hospital since 2004. She was born and raised in Germany, where she worked for years as a Registered Nurse. Now she calls the Beaches her home, where she lives with her two beautiful rescued cats, Ally and Lucy. In her spare times she likes to pursue triathlons and besides visiting family in Germany, she loves spending time with her friends.
Majda has worked at Boardwalk Animal Hospital since October 2009. After completing her Animal Care Worker course, she decided to stay with us and run the reception desk. She enjoys the Beaches with her lovely dogs Sam and Rufus and her husband Patrick. In her spare time she loves to walk, read and is planning her next trip to P.E.I.
Layla started at Boardwalk Animal Hospital in 2007. She started off working at the reception desk and has since become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Most of her free time is consumed by caring for her multiple animals. All of them are rescues and hit the jackpot living in her household. Layla is big into fashion and when she gets a chance, she is dressed to impress.
Charlotte joined the clinic in 2015 as a Veterinary Assistant. Although she doesn’t have any animals of her own at the moment, she enjoys spoiling the ones coming into the clinic. Charlotte is very big into bird banding, particularly owls.
Erin joined the clinic in 2016. You may also find her at our other clinic doing double duty. In her spare time she loves spoiling her two American bulldogs Junior and Rosie. As a former gymnast, Erin is now spending time doing yoga and going to the gym.
Ashton is the latest addition to our clinic and just completed the technician course in May. She lives with her mom, her dog Freddie and her cat Mr. Darcy. Although her horse Moo doesn’t live in the big city, Ashton gets to see him very often. In her spare time she teaches Pilates and loves playing fetch with Freddie.
Kendra is our sweet summer and winter assistant. She is amazing with the animals and when she is back from school she becomes a great addition to our clinic. Although she doesn’t have her two cats living with her while in school, Norbert her gecko keeps her company. Her two cats love it when she is back home.
Samantha is our latest addition to help us out during the busy months. She is working on finishing her registered nursing program in April 2018.
Brody is her little guy (son), and a joy to have him visit the clinic. When Sam is having a moment to herself, you might find her at the gym.
Robby is our 16 year old diabetic clinic cat. He is always very needy for attention and loves to be held like a baby.
In his old age he has become a real love bug. Pacing up and down the clinic keeps him slim and trim – unlike his brother Mowgli.
We adopted Mowgli just over one year ago. He came from a very loving family and calls Robert his brother now. Although Mowgli is not our poster child for a healthy cat, he has stolen the hearts of everyone. Mowgli loves when he gets attention from the ladies and loves to lounge on the counter, showing off his constant winter body.
